Work Permit

If you show proof of employment contract, you will easily obtain a work permit in Chile. It is mandatory to obtain a work permit in order to work in Chile. Ask the company that you are going to be working in to help you with the process. If you obtain a Special Work Card you can work even if you have a tourist card. Another kind of work permit is the "Subject to Contract Visa" which allows you to work in Chile as long as you have a contract. But if you're looking for more flexibility, or plan to work as a freelancer, then you should apply for a "Temporary Residence Visa for Freelance Workers." This is valid for a year and it can be renewed once.
