Today interpreting sector is a highly profitable business and is expected to growth in the following years. Since many companies need translation services in order to communicate with their overseas clients, translation agencies turn into a bridge between both entities. On the other hand, interpreters can work for INGOs, private companies, state-owned organizations or as a freelance. In general, these professionals work for translation agencies.

It is expected that the Interpreters employment rate increase by 22 between 2008 and 2018, according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics. Regarding compensation, the salary of an interpreter was approximately $38,850 in 2008. However, salary scale can vary according to language, years of experience, academic credentials, location and subject matter.

To sum up, interpreting is booming industry and offers a wide range of labor opportunities. Therefore it is better to study a non common language in order to get a niche in the market.
