Responsabilities:
Serve as a policy officer providing technical and policy advice to colleagues within the Policy Development and Studies Branch of OCHA, OCHA field staff, other UN departments and agencies, UN Country Teams, and the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC).
Competencies:
Comprehensive knowledge of and exposure to a wide range of humanitarian action, emergency relief and international humanitarian law and human rights issues;

Qualifications:
Education:
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in political science, law, international relations, or related field.
Experience:
Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, rehabilitation and development, or other related area, including experience at the international level.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post excellent writing and verbal skills in English are essential; knowledge of a second official UN language is desirable.
Others:
Familiarity with standard computer applications including Word, Excel, Power Point and Lotus Notes is desirable.
