Responsabilities:
At Headquarters: Gather, select and analyse information to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of events relating to political and electoral issues in general.
Competencies:
Professionalism: Ability to identify problems, i.e., political, ethnic, racial, social, economic, etc., causing unrest in a country or geographic area; good analytical, research and negotiating skills.

Qualifications:
Education:
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in political science, international relations, international economics, law, public administration or related fields.
Experience:
At least 5 years progressively responsible experience in international affairs, multilateral diplomacy, preferably in the electoral field. Experience in missions and /or prior work in peace operations an asset.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in written and spoken English and French is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
Others:
A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
