Responsabilities:
Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action.
Competencies:
Professionalism: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage partnerships to achieve common goals; proven experience in managing projects in the environmental field including biodiversity-related projects.

Qualifications:
Education:
Advanced university degree in natural resource management, economics or other relevant discipline related to environment and sustainable development or a first university degree with a relevant combination of professional and academic qualifications.
Experience:
10 years of progressively responsible professional experience, including extensive management experience in environmental and sustainable development programme coordination, implementation, evaluation and policy analysis.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised fluency in oral and written English is essential; knowledge of a second official UN language an asset.
Others:
Knowledge of UNEP institutional mandates, policies, guidelines and administrative processes an advantage.
