Job offer description:City: New YorkCountry: USA Responsabilities:Translates, mostly without revision, texts covering a broad range of subjects dealt with by the United Nations. Revises translations dealing with a broad range of subjects dealt with by the United Nations.Competencies:Professionalism: The incumbent must have solid analytical, writing and translation skills; proven ability to produce within established deadlines translation work that meets high standards of accuracy, consistency and faithfulness to the spirit. |
Qualifications:Education:A first level degree from a university or from an institution of equivalent status is required. Must have passed the United Nations competitive examination for the recruitment of Chinese translators.Experience:At least five years of translation experience, of which three preferably within the United Nations. Knowledge of a broad range of subjects dealt with by the United Nations with a recognized specialization in a particular substantive.LanguagesA thorough command of Chinese, which must be the candidate's main language, and an excellent knowledge of English or French, as tested by the appropriate United Nations competitive examination.Others:Facility in using the United Nations terminology databases and word processing programs is highly desirable. Familiarity with computer software used in the United Nations and that of additional official languages are desirable. |
