Over Time, higher education in the world has been molded and influenced by a large variety of forces and events. On the one hand, there are many traditions and patterns of higher learning that have been developed and brought over especially from Western Europe, on the other hand, we can find the native conditions from our own countries and cultures that have affected and modified the development of these educational institutions. Out of these elements, each country and culture has developed a unique system of Higher education.
In most countries, if not all, higher education has become a complex enterprise that has helped society to provide a large variety of professionals. Higher education, is today, considered as one of the most important engines for development of countries. However, despite the importance of Higher education, this still does not become in an obligatory stage in most societies, because it is enough to have completed secondary education to find a job.
But, what is higher education? Many people talk about this topic without really knowing its true meaning. Higher education refers to the stage of learning that occurs in specialized educational institutions such as: Universities, Colleges and institutes of technology. Higher education is an educational level that follows Secondary school and the right to access is enshrined in a number of international human rights instruments.
Currently, although it is not a necessity, higher education brings many advantages which are listed below.

Higher education provides considerable value to individuals, the economies where educated individuals work and live and society in general and, as we can see, studying at a university or a college is always very beneficial for anyone.
One important thing to keep in mind is that the benefits from a university education to an individual vary with the quality of the institution attended. That is why for example if you want to study Business courses in order to work in mortgage banks, it is advisable choose a university that is in the best University rankings.
